The goals of the College of Public Service are to support the University’s mission by engaging in educational, research, and service programs focusing upon theoretical and applied public, non-profit, government, healthcare, urban management, social work and policy formation. The Department of Public Administration offers the Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree (NASPAA accredited), the Master of Professional Studies degree (MPS), the Ph.D. degree in public policy and administration, the Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Management, the Graduate Certificate in Healthcare Administration and Planning, the Graduate Certificate in Public Policy, the Graduate Certificate in Public Administration Executive Leadership, and the Graduate Certificate in Local Government Management. The Department of Social Work and Urban Studies offers the Master of Social Work (MSW) degree, which is a CSWE accredited degree program for part-time or full-time students.

Program offerings are designed to serve individuals interested in public service who are currently working for or interested in a career in government, non-profit, public sector and healthcare agencies.

Mission Statement

The College of Public Service’s mission is to educate, socialize and serve students and employers of nonprofit, healthcare and urban organizations by:
