MATH 3640 - Modern Algebra I (3) Abstract Algebra A course designed to introduce students to the fundamental structures of algebra. Topics include equivalence relations, mappings, groups, subgroups, homomorphisms, factor groups, the Fundamental Theorem of Finite Abelian Groups, rings, ideals, factor rings, and fields. Prerequisite: C or better in MATH 2600. 3 Required for Mathematical Sciences and Mathematical Sciences with Teacher Certification majors. Prerequisite(s): C or better in MATH 2600 Spring
