African American Drama explores selected plays written by African American playwrights from the 19th century to the present. These plays offer a critical evaluation of the Black experience in the United States. Each play renders important themes connected to the African American literary tradition including personhood, migration, gender, racial identity, community, and folk traditions. Prerequisite(s): Successful completion of ENGL 1010 and ENGL 1020 with “C” or better. Pre or Corequisite(s): Successful completion of ENGL 1010 and ENGL 1020 with “C” or better.
