EECE 5600 - Optimal Control Methods for Engineering Design (3) Modeling of dynamics, actuators, sensors and criteria of goodness; state variable models, dynamic linearization methods, controllability, observability and stability. Closed loop design using observers and pole allocation methods, optimum control problems. Maximum principle and dynamic programming. The deterministic linear quadratic design problem. Applications to process control and air traffic control. Prerequisite(s): EECE 4000.
