Program Overview

The M.Ed. in Instructional Leadership with CTE Teacher Leaders Concentration is designed to prepare educational professionals to lead instructional improvement initiatives in career and technical education settings. The program emphasizes data-driven decision making, collaborative leadership, and the application of instructional leadership theories in K-12 environments. 

Program Outcomes

Students will be able to: 

  • Analyze multiple forms of data and establish strategies to ensure student growth and achievement 

  • Apply theories and concepts of instructional leadership in K-12 settings 

  • Use educator evaluation data to inform, assess, and adjust professional learning goals and plans 

  • Design collaborative learning experiences informed by multiple sources of data 

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university 

  • Undergraduate cumulative GPA of 2.75 or better on a 4.0 scale 

  • Official Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Miller Analogies Test (MAT) scores required at time of application 

  • Conditional admission possible for lower GPA/test scores with additional documentation: work record, three written recommendations, and writing sample 

Important Dates

  • Submit by July 1st for Fall Admission 

  • Submit by November 1st for Spring Admission 

  • Submit by April 1st for Summer Admission

Program Duration

Typically, 2-3 years for part-time students; program offered entirely online 

Transfer of Credits

Maximum of 12 relevant graduate credit hours from accredited institutions, subject to advisor and department chair approval 

Degree Requirements 

  • Minimum 33 credit hours 

  • Successful completion of comprehensive examinations 

  • Program of study completed after 9 credit hours 

  • Meeting with advisor required prior to each semester registration

M.Ed. Career and Technical Education Concentration (CTE) Teacher Leaders 

Candidates for the M.Ed. degree must take a minimum of 33-credit hours of coursework and pass the comprehensive examinations. The program of study must be completed after nine (9) credit hours of coursework. All candidates must meet with their advisor prior to registration each semester. Courses must be taken in order as determined by program requirements. All applications must be approved by your academic advisor. All examination dates can be located on the Graduate School Academic Calendar
