MATH 2600 - Introduction to Advanced Mathematics (3) A course designed to transition students of Mathematics from the Calculus sequence to more advanced Mathematics with emphasis on communication of abstract concepts and techniques of proof. Topics include proof methods, set theory, equivalence relations, functions, sequences, countability, cardinal numbers, algebraic structures including groups, rings, and fields, basic concepts in the analysis including completeness of the real numbers, the Heine-Borel and Bolzano-Weierstrass theorems. Prerequisite: C or better in MATH 1920. 3 C or better in MATH 1920. 3 Required for Mathematical Sciences and Mathematical Sciences with Teacher Certification majors. Prerequisite(s): C or better in MATH 1920 Spring
