General Statement

The College of Health Sciences was established in 1974 as the School of Allied Health Professions. The mission of the College of Health Sciences is to promote promote academic quality and student success by preparing tomorrow’s health care leaders through professional programs, interdisciplinary collaboration, clinical and applied research, scholarly inquiry, evidence-based practice, practitioner engagement, and community service.

To promote academic quality and student success by preparing tomorrow’s healthcare leaders through professional programs, interdisciplinary collaboration, clinical and applied research, scholarly inquiry, evidence-based practice, practicioner engagement and community service.

In the College of Health Sciences, we display an interest in each other and in you; we maintain ethical practices and conduct matters with integrity, courtesy, and dependency; we embrace learning, working, and service; and will carry out our responsibilities by being prepared to give our best.

Goals

The goals of the College of Health Sciences are to:

Develop and implement educational programs designed to graduate health practitioners and educators based on employment demands and the availability of resources.
Recruit students interested in health careers to programs offered in the college and provide these students with career counseling, academic advisement, and tutoring designed to assist them in achieving career goals.
Maintain full accreditation by appropriate agencies for all accreditable programs offered by the college.
Recruit and retain a faculty capable of making significant contributions to student learning; basic and applied research efforts; and professional service.
Encourage and promote the development of professional partnerships, community service, and health care delivery.
Identify and develop the talents of students whose prior educational and cultural experiences have prevented them from matriculating and completing allied health careers.
