HIMA 3300 - Advanced Coding and Classification of Health Data (2) (Formerly HIM 330) An advanced study of ICD-9-CM coding and reimbursement systems with special emphasis on the complexities of coding related to principle diagnosis selection and sequencing, problem diagnoses and procedures by body system, DRG assignment and PPS regulations for DRG validation, case-mix concepts, and methods to ensure coding accuracy in automated and manual coding systems. This course requires a laboratory component (1 lecture & 2 lab hours/week).
